US Navy Seals

The US Navy Seals are the Special operations force of the United States Navy. The Navy Seals specialize in Basic Underwater Demolition (BUD) and Sea, Air or Land (SEAL) operations. Frogmen are the nickname of the US Navy Seals. They are the elite Naval Special Operations unit of the US Navy and one of the most appreciated commando forces in the world. Their success record is remarkable.

The formation of the US Navy Seals was in 1962 by President J.F. Kennedy. This maritime counterpart of the US Army Special Forces can operate anywhere with the modern warfare. Most of the exploits of the Navy Seals is unreported. Their dedication and training deserve special mention and the unit is a hard nut to crack.

The Navy Seals operate in small units of one to two men. The total strength of the group is sixteen. The best performance is in squads of eight or even lower. The missions of the US Navy Seals are mostly secretive in nature. The planning is perfect and execution is very swift. They receive the same rigorous training in war and peace times. They are the immediate choice as and when the Commander in Chief wants a no-nonsense, decisive and lethal solution to any foreign policy problem. This also includes the counter terrorism striking forces.

The Navy Seals can wear and display the Special Warfare Badge. This is the SEAL Trident and is one of the most recognized insignias of the United States Navy. Naval Operations Support Groups aid the US Navy Seals and two other unique units- Boat Support and Beach Jumpers. The aid is in the departments of administration, planning, research and development.

The US Navy Seals specialize in the areas of conducting airborne operations, direct action operations, raids, counter-terrorism, hydrographic reconnaissance, infiltration and exfiltration by sea, land or air. The Navy Seals have their head quarters at Naval Special Warfare Command, San Diego, California.
